READING
-
Students will build reading and writing skills through practice with stories, poems, and other texts, focusing on comprehension and close reading. They will learn how to find the main idea, understand themes, make inferences, study characters, and follow the order of events. They will also practice answering questions with evidence from the text. Activities will include reading exercises, short answers, longer writing assignments, and book projects. These lessons will help students become better readers, writers, and thinkers.

-
WRITING
-
Our writing program is aligned with Texas state curriculum standards as well as local expectations from Frisco ISD, Allen ISD, Plano ISD, and Prosper ISD. Students practice many types of writing, including essays, creative writing, expository writing, persuasive writing, biography, drama, and poetry. The program also helps students build vocabulary, improve sentence structure, strengthen grammar, and develop clearer writing skills. ILA

Our language arts program builds confident, thoughtful readers and writers through a rich, skills‑based approach. Students learn effective notetaking and comprehension strategies while exploring storytelling through the hero’s journey, classical mythology, and core elements of character, plot, and setting. We examine multiple genres, author’s purpose, tone, mood, and both literal and figurative language. Instruction strengthens inference, prediction, and textual connections, alongside vocabulary growth using roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Media literacy, grammar practice, essay writing, and research with citation are emphasized, with advanced writing tropes to prepare students for high school success.

MATH
-
Our math program strengthens foundational understanding while building confidence in higher‑level thinking. Students develop skills in pre‑algebra and Algebra I while exploring probability, graphs, and geometry through clear explanations and real‑world applications. Instruction emphasizes measure conversions, number theory, and solving multi‑step problems and equations with accuracy and reasoning. By connecting concepts instead of memorizing formulas, learners gain a deeper understanding of how math works and why it matters. The result is stronger problem‑solving ability, improved academic performance, and the confidence to tackle increasingly complex mathematical challenges in school and beyond.
